I wrote SO MUCH this quarter. It's made me really happy having the chance to write as much as I have, but something was wrong. My story still didn't have a plot. Not to mention that I absolutely hate their names. So here it is now. I grew a pair and changed their names today. I KNOW. It took a lot of considering, but I really feel that their new names will benefit them, considering that their old names didn't have any special meaning to me to begin with. Don't worry, kids who knew about the story back in the day, aka in grammar and high school, they're the same characters that they always were, and I really think their new names still suit their personalities.
Some of the characters' new names just came to me and seemed to fit perfectly. Some of them are really similar to their original names, some aren't. Gemmei's new name, Gemma, fit easily because it was so similar. Wazuka was hard to rename because I couldn't find anything that seemed to fit as well, but then the name Violet just hit me and it fit so perfectly that I was actually a little shocked. I knew Yuki's new name would be Zach because right from the beginning, that name seemed to fit his personality somehow. I am still looking for names to replace Kosho and Saionji's names. Right now, I've chosen Kevin and Shawn, but I don't think I'm sold on them yet. Jenn and Roy's names will remain unchanged. They're the only two who I gave significant names right from the beginning.
Just thought I'd keep you DA kids updated for anyone who's still out there watching me ha.
EDIT: I've decided on Kosho and Saionji's new names. Kevin and Shawn just didn't seem to fit the way I wanted them to, so I went with things involving their characters. I decided Jay (Jason) fit Kosho's personality. It took a little getting used to, but I really like how Jay is suiting him right now. I chose Jay because Kosho's "color" was blue. Blue jays? Get it? I went with a similar method to pick Saionji's new name. I wanted to go with his color, too. Saionji's was green, and I couldn't think of any name that meant green. I thought about it and ultimately came up with Seth. As in Seth Green? Yup. And Seth Green is a comedian, and Saionji is the comic relief of the story, so the name Seth fit him very well in the end. So Jason and Seth. Enjoy that one, kids!!
